Easter Eggs and Connections
The Smoky Mountain Chronicles are seven movies with several connections between them all. As the films are released, you may pick up on what the overall story the fables are telling. Here are the revealed connections between the films so far.
The Spearfinger Mojo (Spoilers)
In the beginning of The Hike, two natives are talking about a mojo that they fear will be exhumed because of recent flooding. They were right to be worried. Kirby finds this necklace in the beginning of "The Hike" and wears it. This didn't bode well for her, and this necklace proves to be bad news for everyone who comes into contact with it in the series.
***The Hike: Kirby finds the Spearfinger mojo near a riverside. She wears the necklace and she and her boyfriend are soon killed. Robin later finds this mojo and is unnaturally drawn to it. We later find that the spirit of Spearfinger is slowly freeing itself from the necklace, looking for a new body. By the end of the movie, Spearfinger has taken over Robin's body and begins searching for human livers to dine on.
***WJHC AM: Arlo causally wears the mojo like it is no big thing. While checking on a remote radio transmitter, he is attacked by demons and they rip his leg off. He later succumbs to his injuries.
***Camp Smokey: While imprisioned, Annie finds the Spearfinger mojo hanging on the wall of the Man's shed. She steals it and eventually drops it on the trail. She hopes this sends a message to her brother and friends that she is still alive. The ploy works but her would-be rescuers are all ripped to shreds by the Man in a failed rescue attempt.
***Showdown in Secret City: Polly Henry places the mojo around John Henry's neck before his contest with the steam drill. John defeats the machine but later dies of a heart attack.
***Lu's Last Stop: The Spearfinger mojos are readily available for sale in the gas station. A man buys one, puts it on, and walks outside and is immediately eaten by a monster that lunges out from the surrounding miasma.
INTER-MOVIE CONNECTIONS
The Hike
***WJHC AM: Cousin Vinnie, looking for a weapon near the end of the movie, picks up Brass Knuckles, states "That'll never work", and tosses them back on the work bench and looks for better weapons... referencing the actor's weapon of choice in "The Hike" where he didn't survive the final fight.
***WJHC AM: Luke's rendition of "Blessed Assurance" from "The Hike's" campfire scene can be heard being played over WJHC AM's speakers
***Camp Smokey: A potential couple, Rob and Vennie, switches roles, genders and personality traits in Camp Smokey from the couple the actors portray in the Hike (Robin and Vinnie).
***Showdown in Secret City: An unidentified government employee is watching a bevy of security monitors. On one, Spearfinger is looking into the camera.
***Showdown in Secret City: El Gordo Gringo defeats Fritz the Lesser in a fist fight. After Fritz monologues, El Gordo Gringo spray paints a big red phallus on the robot's defeated body- paying homage to Vinnie and Robin repeatedly passing the spray painted "big red d*ck" on the cave walls from "The Hike".

***Showdown in Secret City: On the way to fight the robot, Vinnie turns the radio to WJHC AM. Luke cranks up the radio and gleefully sings along with Mike Feebly's song "Go Up On Yon Hill Over Yonder."

***Showdown in Secret City: The man steals a toy robot while rummaging through a girl demon's dresser. It resembles Fritz the Lesser from the movie Showdown in Secret City.

Where to Find the Moron Skunks
***The Hike: The origin of this gag started when the inebriated Billy the forest ranger's mood capriciously changes. He went from doting on a little skunk to shaking his head and punting it like a soccer ball. After he kicks it, he calls it a moron before taking another swig out of his Marilyn Monroe flask.
***WJHC AM: Vinnie says "Moron" out loud while using the bathroom as he reacts to Sister Christian struggling with her copy on a steak house radio commercial. While he says this, he's looking at a religious skunk poster.
***Camp Smokey: Camp Counselor Vennie's office has many camp themed posters and signs on her wall. One says, "Don't be a moron, BEWARE the wildlife." It also has a cartoon skunk on it.
***Showdown in Secret City: Vinnie says to Travis "everyone else in our group is a moron", as the camera fixates on a government building with a sign that warns of radioactive skunks in the area.
Outside of Smoky Mountain Chronicles
***Swipe Wrong: Adam is in Kiko's trailer, and he glances at a terrible AI generated picture of a samurai skunk in her kitchenette. He blurts out "moron" in Japanese.
